2006 was a year for following through. It was abuot building on the consistency I'd laid over the past several years: join a running club, start trail running, and participate in my FIFTH Philly Distance Run (half-marathon)

TRAIL RUNNING: Mount Penn Mudfest, 4/15/06
  15 Kilometers
  [Chip] Time:
  [Overall] Place:
Cheering squad: Lori, Dawn, & Bo

A new sport for me, and one which matches perfectly: train hard, in the woods, but don't take it seriously! This race included a beer stop, several (deep) stream crossings, and Easter Egg hunt, and lots of mud!

Looking strong after the beer stop

RUNNING: Philadelphia Distance Run, 9/17/06
  13.1 Miles
  [Chip] Time: 1:46:33 (time = 1:45:28)
  [Overall] Place: 2,108/11,119 (division place = 265/855)
  Cheering squad: Lori

The training this year was good, but I think I didn't have the heart. I did quite well, but felt during the race that I would have done better on an 8-miler. Nonetheless, I was happy to get close to my (awesome) time from last year!
