2006 was a year for following through. It was abuot building on the consistency I'd laid over the past several years: join a running club, start trail running, and participate in my FIFTH Philly Distance Run (half-marathon)

TRAIL RUNNING: Mount Penn Mudfest, 4/7/07
  15 Kilometers
  Time: 1:32:12
  [Overall] Place: 181/616
Cheering squad: Lori, Dawn, & Hannah

I felt a lot better on this, my second competitive trail run (and second on this course). This was a 5-minute+ improvement, thanks in a large part to the most recent addition to my cheering section, Hannah! There had been snow (?!?) in the forecast, but it turned out to be dry and almost 40 degrees - not too bad. Technically, I finished 5th in the Clydesdale Division, but guess that since I left early, I forfeited the award :-(

RUNNING: Legs Against Arms, 4/15/07
  5 Kilometers
  Time: 24:30ish
  [Overall] Place: ??
Racing Team: (DUCOM) Lisa Nguyen, Rick Tennent, Grant Swicher, Kate Hawk, Clif Burt

PSR organized this event, together with a peace festival, to help bring an end to the culture of violence in Philadelphia these days. The event surely raised a lot of money, although uncharacteristicly cold and wet conditions had us plodding over an alternate course through 25' stretches of flowing water. Grant took off from the group early, and the rest of us just kept our head down and feet under us. Did I menation it was cold and wet? P.S. Violence sucks, especially gun violence.

  [Chip] Time: (time = )
[Overall] Place: (division place = )
